We see this as an opportunity to both record history and make history. Nothing quite like this movie has been created before. It is a powerful first-person tribute to women who asserted themselves, found themselves, then tried to hold on to their core even as they fought the patriarchy and their own ingrained inhibitions.

 

We begin with the “Yearbox” images, souvenirs of the tail end of their childhood, that these young women chose to leave for posterity. We end with the images these aging women choose to leave as their legacy to future generations still seeking (the word echoes throughout our movie) “freedom.”
