Executive Producer/Producer

Liz Roman Gallese’s award-winning documentary, Women of ’69, Unboxed, received a National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) grant through the Art Works program, as well as support from leading foundations. The film looks at ’69 graduates from a former women’s college–same year as Hillary Clinton–reflecting on lives shaped by the unprecedented societal upheavals of the 1960s. The women speak against the backdrop of their highly creative senior portraits which they had placed, unbound and unnumbered, in the spirit of the times, into a “Yearbox” rather than a conventional yearbook. Gallese served as executive producer, and produced with NYC filmmakers Jane Startz and Peter Barton.

The film won awards for best documentary in 2015 at the Queens World and NYC Independent film festivals, as well as an audience award at Woods Hole. It screened at venues such as the JFK Presidential Library and Museum and Chautauqua Institution, and has had a robust run on public television. Major PBS affiliates in NYC, LA, Boston, Chicago, Atlanta, and Buffalo/Toronto, among others, aired the program in prime-time in 2017, as did WORLD℠ Channel, with multiple telecasts in January and March.

Earlier in her career, Gallese reported and wrote for The Wall Street Journal, Bloomberg News, and leading consumer and business magazines. She is the author of Women Like Us, a book about the first Harvard Business School class in which female enrollment reached 10 percent. Gallese received a B.A. in English from Skidmore College, an M.S. in Journalism from Boston University, and is a member of The American Society of Authors and Journalists (ASJA) and The Authors Guild.
